I was born in 1940 in the village of Felton, in Northumberland
and lived there until I married in 1966. We moved to the town of Ashington and my family and I have lived there
ever since.
Having tried various occupations I eventually settled for teaching
in 1972 and worked in the profession for 30 years.
Now retired, I devote my time to painting. I have always been interested
in art and began painting seriously in my late teens. I paint exclusively
in oils, as I like the way the medium allows me to explore the
feel of a subject. I work from my studio at home and my
paintings are contemporary in style.
I am always on the lookout for new subjects and enjoy painting scenes
I see everyday, such as a beautiful sunset, a busy harbour or just a
man on the street. I try to capture the essence of simplicity and turn
it into an immortal picture to be seen and enjoyed by others.
I first began to exhibit my work in the Northumberland area in
1980 and over the years I have ventured further a field and now
exhibit throughout
the UK and occasionally in Spain.
